Hālau Hula O Makalani Nā Pilialoha is a hula school located in National City (San Diego County) and is taught by Kumu Hula (hula instructor) Makalani Kuliha'apai. She teaches both Kahiko (Ancient) and 'Auana (Modern) styles of Hawaiian dance. At our hālau, the haumāna (students) will not only learn the importance of "Hula Protocol” but will also learn the history behind each dance, the basics of Hawaiian language through song and lecture, create their own costumes, as well as gain self-discipline and self-confidence.
We're excited to be opening up a 2nd location in North County (Vista) on August 30, 2019. Please see "classes" for more information.
We welcome all ages and skill levels to our hālau. We offer classes for Nā Wāhine (women), Nā Kāne (men), Keikikāne (boys), and Kaikamāhine (girls). All skill levels will be established at the instructor's discretion. Our hālau motto is “Live Aloha.” We're not only a hula hālau... we're a hula 'ohana (family)!!
If you love the Hawaiian culture, we offer amazing opportunities to explore your inner 'uhane Hawai'i (Hawaiian spirit).
